Delaware Diesel Difference group to meet for first time Sept. 27
DOVER (Sept. 21, 2010) – Delaware Diesel Difference, a group dedicated to supporting voluntary implementation of clean diesel technologies and promoting greater compliance with Delaware’s anti-idling law, will conduct its first organizational meeting Monday, Sept. 27. The meeting will be at AutoPort, 203 Pigeon Point Road, New Castle, just outside the Port of Wilmington.
Delaware Diesel Difference is funded by DNREC through the Community Environmental Project Fund (CEPF). The CEPF was created in 2004 by House Bill 192, and allows DNREC to set aside 25 percent of administrative and civil penalties for community environmental projects. Delaware Diesel Difference was formed by the Clean Air Council, building on the success of its Philadelphia Diesel Difference initiative, which takes on the same air quality and emission issues.
According to the Delaware Diesel Difference, “a working group has been formed to help build a stakeholder group of diverse partners with a mutual interest in reducing air pollution from diesel engines in Delaware through voluntary programs and the use of innovative strategies including market-based approaches.”
