MCGINTY APPOINTS CLEAN AIR COUNCIL TO AQTAC BOARD
Michael Fiorentino To Take Seat on DEP Air Quality Technical
Advisory Committee
PHILADELPHIA - Pennsylvania Department
of Environmental Protection Secretary Kathleen A. McGinty
has appointed Clean Air Council Air Program Manager Michael
Fiorentino to the Department's Air Quality Technical Advisory
Committee (AQTAC).
The purpose of AQTAC is to advise the
Department of Environmental Protection (through comments
and recommendations) on the technical and economic or other
social impacts of existing, new, or proposed revisions to
pollution control regulations, policies, and new control
techniques or technologies affecting air. The Committee
also provides technical advice on Department policies, guidance,
and regulations needed to implement the Clean Air Act.
AQTAC generally meets on a bi-monthly
basis and its members volunteer their time. Meetings are
open to the public and community participation is encouraged
by the Committee. "We are pleased to add an individual
of Mr. Fiorentino's expertise to the Air Quality Technical
Advisory Committee and we look forward to his input on the
Committee," said Secretary McGinty in announcing the
appointment.
Mr. Fiorentino becomes the twelfth member
of AQTAC. "It's an honor to accept Secretary McGinty's
appointment to the Air Quality Technical Advisory Committee,"
noted Fiorentino. "I intend to examine the technical
and regulatory issues before the Committee with consideration
of the impacts on the public health and the environment."
Mr. Fiorentino is a Senior Attorney with
Clean Air Council. Prior to 2003, he served as Director
of the Council's Harrisburg office
Clean Air Council is Pennsylvania's oldest
environmental non-profit organization, dedicated to protecting
everyone's right to breathe clean air. The Council uses
education, advocacy, and government oversight in pursuit
of this goal. Its offices are located in Philadelphia, Harrisburg,
and Wilmington.
