| Project Description |
The entire fleet of 141 school buses at North Penn School District is running on Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD). 28 of these buses have been retrofitted with a Diesel Oxidation Catalysts (DOCs). An additional 28 of North Penn's older 1986 buses have been replaced with modern, cleaner vehicles. |
| Background |
In the spring of 2004, North Penn School District (NPSD) was awarded a 2-year grant from Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to subsidize the cost of switching to ULSD. "We are proud of, and remain committed to, our efforts and contributions to a cleaner, safer environment for our children and the community that we serve," said Transportation Coordinator, Marianne Cleary. |
| Update |
North Penn School District has joined a consortium of 7 schools to share costs in purchasing ULSD. They were successful in locking in at a low fixed price for purchasing ULSD for the 2005-06 school year. |
