| Project Description | Of the SPC/Camden Iron fleet of 19 tractor trailers, eight have been replaced with new cleaner 2005 trucks and five have been retrofitted with diesel oxidation catalysts. Three more are expected to be retrofitted soon. |

SPC/Camden Iron was awarded Platinum Status at the Clean Air 5K Run on April 16, 2006. SPC/Camden Iron's Environmental Health and Safety Manager Cynthia McKeown said, "SPC/Camden Iron and Metal is proud to have worked with Philadelphia Diesel Difference towards reducing air pollution by participating in the Diesel Retrofit Program." She added, "As the region's largest recycler, we work every day towards reusing our metal resources in a clean and efficient manner. Recycling plays an enormous role in reducing air pollution world-wide and SPC/Camden Iron and Metal makes every attempt to be at the forefront of the recycling industry by committing to improving our environment." SPC/Camden Iron paid the purchase and installation costs for catalysts distributed by Cummins Power Systems, Inc using its own funds. |
