Clean Air Council is conducting a campaign to bring cleaner cars to Pennsylvania and Delaware area roadways! The Council's Clean Cars Campaign for Pennsylvania and Delaware will be working with area lawmakers, businesses, organizations, and citizens to adopt the California Low Emission Vehicle II (LEV II) standard in PA and DE.
Vehicular air pollution is a serious problem in Pennsylvania and Delaware. The emissions from cars, trucks, and SUVs are a major source of ground-level ozone in both states. In addition, these emissions are leading contributors to global climate change and airborne toxic pollution. Without a LEV II program in place, access to new and more efficient vehicle technology and alternative fuels is limited- this being particularly important given the present state of energy security and costs.
The Clean Cars Campaign focuses on improving the natural environment and economy in Pennsylvania and Delaware through the adoption of a LEV II program. In addition to reducing harmful emissions, the LEV II program increases the availability of cleaner, more efficient automotive options for consumers, including low and zero emission vehicles. Several northeastern states have already adopted LEV II, including New York, Vermont, and Massachusetts, and similar clean car legislation is currently pending in the New Jersey state legislature.
