Pennsylvania Wind Energy
Pennsylvania Wind Energy is here in Pennsylvania and growing fast. From humble beginnings in 1999, Clean Air Council together with the Land and Water Fund of the Rockies formed Community Energy, Inc. to market wind power to Pennsylvania businesses.
The Council has helped announce over 258 MW of new wind development, making Pennsylvania the leader in the eastern United States for wind energy. Clean Air Council, together with nonprofits, governmental agencies and businesses in the renewable energy field, is helping to stimulate demand for wind energy and assure the future of wind energy as a clean renewable source of energy in the state.
Pennsylvania Wind Campaign
A Project of Clean Air Council, the PWC encourages businesses and residents statewide to purchase electricity generated from Pennsylvania wind farms. Many high profile universities and large and small businesses have purchased wind energy, and the list continues to grow.
Small businesses have recognized that investing in local wind power has created more jobs in rural Pennsylvania, has bolstered local support for their business, and has protected the local air and water. In reality, despite common misconceptions, wind power is cost competitive with current energy production techniques, and the cost of wind continues to decline, 80% over the last 20 years! In fact, when human health costs are considered, costs that are currently the burden of asthmatics and people afflicted by other respiratory issues, wind power may be the more economical choice. Please become a local hero. Become a Wind Champion!
