| "The Climate Stewardship
Act" is a bipartisan bill that would have significantly
reduce the air pollution that causes global warming. It required
major energy, transportation and manufacturing companies to
gradually reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Had it passed,
this legislation would have been a very big step in the fight
against global warming. Unfortunately on October 30, 2003,
the Senate voted 55-43 against the bill, which had been co-sponsored
by Sens. Lieberman (D-Conn.) and McCain (R-Ariz.). Furthermore,
neither of Pennsylvania's Senators voted in favor.
Please write to Senator Arlen Specter, letting him know
you are disappointed in his failure to support the Climate
Stewardship Act.

Use the subject: Support the Climate Stewardship Act.
How to write an effective letter: Be brief! Put it in your
own words! Never threaten!
1.) Tell the Senator that you are in favor of the Climate
Stewardship Act.
2.) Explain, in your own words, why you support it.
* Global warming leads to severe weather, like drought and
wildfires
* Global warming increases the spread of certain diseases
* Global warming is bad for many endangered species
* Global warming would hurt Pennsylvania's economy
3.) Express your dissatisfaction with his vote against the
bill.
